Garanti Koza has acquired 51 percent of Akfil Holding together with his partners. Garanti Koza and his partners are planning to develop new constructions on the lands acquired with Akfil Holding. Also as a result of this acquisition, the land of the Akkoza Project belongs from now on to Garanti Koza and his partners.

Garanti Koza, Corio from Holland and Akkök Group founder of Akmerkez, has come together for an one billion dollar worth investment in Esenyurt, Istanbul. Akkoza Project is aiming to become the hearth of the whole region with over 5.500 residential units, shopping mall, hospital, private school and dense natural areas. The Project comprises two major sub-projects, which are legally and financially not binding to each other: Shopping Center; which will be a development and investment of GAC A.Ş. and Residential Development; which will be realized by Garanti Koza - Akiş Ordinary Partnership.

Istanbul hosts 2011-2013 Sony Ericsson Championships |
The Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Board announced today that the Sony Ericsson WTA Championships will be held in Doha in 2008-2010 but İstanbul will host the event for three years between 2011-2013.
Istanbul organizers plan to build a state of the art new 10,000 seat stadium that will be the home of the event. "We're thrilled to have been awarded the honor to host the Sony Ericsson Championships for 2011-2013, the most prestigious tournament in women's tennis," said Coskun Erginer, Managing Director of the Istanbul Cup. "Tennis is growing very rapidly in Turkey, and we are committed to building upon the great tradition of the Sony Ericsson Championships

Istanbul is a candidate for the SE WTA Championships.
Istanbul is one of the candidatesto host the year end SE WTA Championships which will be held during 2008-2010. Among other candidate cities are, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and Bangolore. SE WTA CEO Larry Scott and Tier III representative Marcus Gutenhard were both present during the press conference, held in the Ataköy Olympic House about the candidacy of Istanbul to the SE WTA championships along side General Manager Coşkun Erginer - Board Member of the Istanbul Cup, Istanbul Cup Media Director Cahit Yavuz, Presdent of the Turkish Olympic Comitee Togay Bayatlı, and IL MUDURU Tamer Taşpınar.

SE WTA Istanbul Cup 2007, which has been held in Tekstilkent Arena mainly sponsored by Garanti Koza, is finished. "Istanbul is looking for its new Sultan" was the concept of this years tournament, which has ended with Dementieva's success over her Rezai who had to retire in the singles final. Doubles winners were the Polish sisters Agnieska-Ursula Radwanska.
