In 1948, our company is established in Ankara as Garanti İnşaat Ltd. First contracted work is
the Carpentry Works of the National Assembly Building, on 8th November 1948.
Headquarters moved to İstanbul in 1952. Garanti İnşaat concentrated on government
investment projects, public works and industrial facilities.
In 1976, Koç Holding acquired a 62% stake in Garanti Bankası. As Koç Holding acquired an
80% interest in Garanti İnşaat, it became a part of the Koç Group in 1982. Koç Holding sold
its Garanti Bankası shares but retained its stake in Garanti İnşaat in order to maintain its
presence in the construction sector. The Company became a joint stock company and it
focused on modern industrial and residential projects, at home and abroad. In 1987, Hochtief
A.G., one of Germany’s largest construction companies, formed a partnership with Garanti
İnşaat, by acquiring 40% of its shares. In 1990, Garanti İnşaat merged with Koza İnşaat, a
Koç Group company active in construction and marketing housing developments. Hochtief’s
share increased to 42%. The name of the company was then changed to Garanti Koza.
Balfour Beatty plc, Europe’s and United Kingdom’s leading international engineering,
construction and services group, acquired 49.18% of Garanti İnşaat shares in 2000. The name
of the company became Garanti Balfour Beatty.
Mr. Mehmet Şükrü İlkel, acquired 98% of the shares of Garanti Balfour Beatty İnşaat in
April 2004. Title of the company has been re-changed to Garanti Koza Construction Industry
and Trade Co. Inc.
Today Garanti Koza is active and extensively experienced in infrastructure, public works,
industrial facilities, building and real estate development and specialized projects like
hospitals, marinas and renovation works. Garanti Koza aims to maintain its commitment to
excellence and quality by the extensive experience gained from successful completion of a
variety of projects in diverse countries, and the precious contacts acquired on the way.
